My wife and I bought a Traeger Tailgater wood pellet grill about a year ago. I believe it’s one of the smallest units that Traeger offers, which makes it great for those of us who like an easily transportable grill/smoker to take on our hunting, fishing, and camping trips.
As Traeger claims, the Tailgater packs a full-size punch in a portable, relatively small package. With the Tailgater, you can easily infuse wood-fired taste in tight spaces. You can grill, smoke, bake, roast, braise, and BBQ wherever and whenever you darn well please.
The Tailgater has a 300-square-inch (20″x15″) grilling area, folding legs for maximum portability, a digital controller, and holds eight pounds of wood pellets in the hopper. It measures 37 inches wide by 36 inches high by 18 inches deep, and it weighs about 62 pounds.
Even with its compact size, this grill can handle two whole chickens, three rib racks, or 12 hamburger patties at one time. It uses very little electricity and is easy to move around.
The Traeger Tailgater wood pellet grill retails for about $450.
